Holiday Blessings ~ |
|
Yes,
I've dropped off of the face of the earth! I'm so very glad to be
back. I've missed sending out my little scribblings. As you
can see, I've been quite busy. I've completely redesigned my Jules
website. I am now working on Little Girls' Pearls and *trumpets
sounding* am working on a new funky website,
Whimsy Kisses. You're
going to love it! I know I do.
Thus my
"Jules' Journal" has now become "A Bit of Whimsy". I do hope you
like it. I would love to know your thoughts on the change.
Drop me a
note and let me know what you
think.
We're doing well
around here. Summer seems to be hanging on a LONG time
this year. Just last week it was over 80. Now here
on the beach we hardly ever see 80, so we are living in the
proverbial Sunny California. The boys were enjoying playing
in the water in the backyard and basking in the glow of the sun.
The weather has finally cooled to autumn temperatures!
Okay, how very sad
is this??? I am 33 years old. (Stop snickering,
that's not the sad part!) This last week was the
very first time I cleaned a chicken. What kind of a wife
and mother am I? LOL Oh it was so disgusting! EWWWWW! That was just about enough to make me a
vegetarian. The boys liked to roast chicken dinner though.
Just had to share my chicken cleaning experience with you.
Bordering on creepy!
I do hope you and
your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration. We
always hold hands and go around the table telling what we're
thankful for. I just love family traditions.
What are you
thankful for? I know with the holidays whirring around us
it is so very easy to get caught up in the busyness of life that
we forget about all of the wonderful things for which we can be
thankful. I know I am very susceptible to be sucked into
the rush around this time of year. Every now and then it's
good to stop and take a break. I try to grab my boys and
head to the coffee shop for a "special milk" and a chat or some
checkers. Sometimes it's quite hard to get out of the rush
of things, consciously try to take a break today.
Holiday
blessings from our family to yours!

Great Dessert Recipe |

Are
you stuck on what goodie to bring to your next get together?
Oh my do I have a recipe for you! Okay, so these won't go down
in history as the healthiest party treat, but they are soooooo
yummy!
These little Cream Cheese Squares are easy, fast and delicious!
I always make sure to print out the recipe on little cards when I
bring it somewhere to share because I get swamped with requests for
the recipe.

My Current Obsessions |
* Anything
vintage ~ I've fallen in love with vintage patterns, vintage
colors, vintage jewelry and funky vintage nifties of all
sorts. My newest collection is antique etched crystal
wine glasses with fancy stems. It's funny, we don't
drink, but I like to serve water and sparkling cider in
them. They just make a meal seem more formal and
beautiful. I only buy one of each glass style that I find so
that my table is set with all different but beautiful
crystal stemware.
*
Memory Mixer ~ I am totally
scrap booking challenged (to say the least). This is a
digital scrapbook program, so I can create amazing
scrapbooks automatically! It actually inserts my
pictures for me. I just choose the layout. I can
then add embellishments and journaling. I can share it
with my family via PDF or have the books professionally
printed for a dirt cheap price. Very fun!
* Jasmine Green
Tea from
Carol's Special Teas.
They come in a bottle with no chemicals, just good tea!
I pop it in the fridge and have instant iced tea anytime.
Super yummy and refreshing!

Nifty Fall Craft |
|
This is one I'm doing
with my boys. But you can dress it up for an adult version as
well.
Holiday
Placemat
Collect fresh fall
leaves...we looked for fun fall colors (which is not all that easy
by the beach in California!). Press leaves under a heavy book
or block overnight. If you'd like to keep the placemat for
years to come, dry the leaves as well. Lay out a 12" x 18" piece of clear contact
paper. Place leaves, glitter, scraps of paper, ribbon, ric rac...whatever...on
the contact paper. Then you can either put another piece of
12" x 18" clear contact paper over the top of the leaves to create a
"sandwich" or you can first put a piece of colored construction
paper over the leaves then the second piece of clear contact paper.
Just be sure the contact paper touches each other all around the
edges to form a seal.
Coaster Place Cards
If you don't have time
to do full placemats for everyone at your Thanksgiving table, place
small groupings of leaves (no more than 4") sandwiched together
between the contact paper. Then you can cut the contact paper
into circles with pinking sheers to make a lovely coaster. You
can even add the person's name to each, using them as place cards
for your table.
